Agree to disagree

March 29th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Men & Women

There are times that two people, no matter how close, will not agree on certain issues or concerns. Where they don’t see each other eye-to-eye and oftentimes avoid the subject matter altogether than to go through the process of arguing or debating about it.

But I guess, that is also the beauty of friendship. When people can accept each other and agree to disagree on matters where they have a totally different perspective.

I guess life is too short to let differences affect friendships. Best to let the people we care for be free, support, and help achieve their fullest potential.

Our Deepest Fear – Just setting things straight

March 20th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Personal

I just remembered a poem which was recited by Nelson Mandela during his inauguration speech as the  President Of The Democratic Republic Of South Africa Union Buildings – Pretoria, 10 May 1994.  Oftentimes, he is being credited for the poem but the real fact is that it is written by Marianne Williamson from her book, A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles.

It was also the poem recited from the movie, Coach Carter played by Samuel L. Jackson.

Honestly, it is one of my favorite poems because it sets straight all the misconceptions on humility and courage among all of us. So kindly read the poem, Our Deepest Fear.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

I often hear the phrase “silence is bliss”. Its interpretation is dependent on how a person perceived the meaning of such. A definition given to me, by a friend, is illustrated in a song from Ronan Keating More »
