I woke up early this morning to read a text message from Globe. Admittedly, I was really expecting the intriguing 4438 today and whoala! I was not disappointed.

4438 hits more than that the 2010 blockbuster movie today! Why? My Rewards.My Globe and TM Astig Rewards was unveiled this April 4, 2010 and I could not believe that Globe is really serious about their reward program to their loyal users. I thought this only true for some airline promos where one can earn miles or so. But no, Globe is darn serious!

Okay let me enumerate a few of what 4438 My Rewards.My Globe and TM Astig Rewards will offer:

1. Free call/text services, gift checks from family favorites like Jollibee and Duty Free
2. Free passes to summer spots like Manila Ocean Park, Avilon Zoo and Enchanted Kingdom
3. Frequent fliers can earn additional PAL Miles for trips to places like Cebu, Palawan and Kalibo, or even foreign destinations including HongKong, Bangkok, Sydney and Los Angeles. Even this one???!!!

Okay for gadget geeks and lovers, you can have the following:

4. Music fans can pick the iPod 4GB, gamers will go gaga with the Nintendo DSi, and aspiring shutterbugs can grab the Canon Digital Camera.

4438 is coming

I just heard from friends that there will be a new service from Globe tagged as 4438. I don’t know what is it though but I guess it has something to do with their Globe internet service – Globe Tattoo. Maybe, they will just give us – Globe Tattoo users, a free WIFI connection or maybe they will give us a deal we could no longer refuse for usage. Errr… Maybe if this has something to do with our globe phone deals (be it an SMS or voice call) then it will be worth the wait. 4438 might mean anything else for now not until April 4 comes.

April 4 I believe is just an ordinary day but when Globe came up with such an idea of 4438, it changes everything. If 2010 was a blockbuster movie then Globe must be prepared to hit it big also for its Globe users and subscribers else they will just come short with such hype. But as a Globe user, I think its marketing think-tanks are loaded with surprises. Globe has proven that already through time. 4438 is yet another one to watch out for.

Anways, whatever that 4438 is all-about I admire how Globe is coming up with new ways of serving their customers.

Globe Tattoo is the fastest mobile broadband

I would admit that my work is TOTALLY dependent on the internet. That is why speed is a real BIG ISSUE for me because it is where my communication with clients lies.  Productivity is another thing that I really look into which is almost directly proportional to the speed of the internet connection.

Lately, there has been a lot of wireless broadband connections being offered by different companies out there.  However;  the general public is seemingly dazed as to what mobile broadband connection is faster and reliable.

Every company of course deserves to be tested out so that we can finally say who is really on top in the mobile broadband internet industry.

Set your Globe Tattoo wireless broadband USB to 3G only

I’m pretty amazed as to how Internet technology has improved these days especially on service providers being creative with their approach in offering products and services.

The above photo was shared to me by a friend who recently conducted a training about the use of social networks. Fifteen students were in that class  and all are connected through this wifi shared connection set up in a laptop with Globe Tattoo broadband plugged to it.

To make this set-up work, network connection is set to 3G only. So I guess if you are in the right area, this can fairly work. For long duration connection, it is best to set it to time-based charging. For e-mail or status checking, kb-based charging will do. To check your default browsing, text STATUS to 1111. To switch to Per-KB browsing, text KB to 1111.

I’m partly not comfortable though with the Globe Tattoo broadband new skins. What if the skin you like, such as those in the Globe Tattoo broadband gallery,  is not available and the ones on the shop are girly in style, that will be a problem. Well if you are a guy – you can’t be seen using that right? Of course you can always say, “it is my sister’s USB stick”. LOL!

Gmail inbox full

If you have been using your Gmail account for quite sometime now, chances are, your account will be full sooner or later. There are several options to consider when you reached this point. Such as:

• Delete old e-mails.
  Yes, all those alerts and newsletters, just delete all of them. The same can be done to old email whose attachments no longer matter.
• Create a new account and have it import all your e-mail from the full Gmail account.
  After that, delete or have it automatically delete all imported e-mails.
  You can also configure this to make it appear as sending from your former Gmail address and have it automatically import all new e-mails.
• Create a new e-mail account and use it as default for personal correspondence.
  In your settings, accounts, you can have your current Gmail be configured to appear as sending out from a specific e-mail address. The replies can also be sent to that new address.

  This allows you to gradually introduce your new address while maintaining the current one.

I am biased on the last one as having a fresh e-mail address allows you to focus on how to use it properly and not use it to subscribe to various online services.
